There will be no pet Andean mountain cats in the world. Well, I would be extremely surprised if there was one because they are so rare (about 2,000 in the world, perhaps less) and it would be a crying shame if people are capturing this small wildcat to be sold as a pet.
That said, rare cats are desirable as pets. It is a peculiar world. Unfortunately this little wildcat looks like a domestic cat and in some respects behaves like one - they are relatively tame in allowing people to approach them.
I would beg people to leave them alone. Let them behave naturally in their cold, rocky remote habitat, where they are at home and not in someone's home.
