Taylor Swift signs off "Childless Cat Lady" on Instagram post supporting Kamala Harris

Taylor Swift is the world's most musically talented and influential 'cat lady' even if she adopted the wrong cat - a Scottish Fold 😎😒. It seems that the almost the whole of the USA is following her on Instagram. The US population is 336 million at present and she has 284 million followers. She has the power to make a difference in this election.

Taylor Swift has said that she supports Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the presidential election. She signs off her post as a "Childless Cat Lady" in taking the Mickey out of J.D. Vance who as you may remember criticised childless cat ladies as people who were unhappy because they did not have a family. He both denigrated independent-minded women and the domestic cat at the same time. His comment attracted an avalanche of criticism which damaged Trump's presidential campaign. He tried unsuccessfully to backtrack.

And Taylor Swift said, as you can see in the post below, that she has to be transparent about who she wants to support because AI is a danger to the Internet (and of course it can be a great benefit - it depends how you use it). She says that an AI bot appears to have adopted her persona and made a post on her Instagram site saying that she endorsed Donald Trump; clearly very false and damaging information.

So in the vein of being transparent and open, she has clearly stated that she "will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election".

She is voting for Kamala Harris, like many other people, because she champions the right sort of causes. She is a balanced individual. She's smart and decent and I say that she has a good face by which I mean that she has integrity which you can see in her general demeanour and her facial expressions.

And I've also stated that she is an animal champion. She champions animal welfare. This is the behaviour of a tender-hearted person in a world needs that kind of person.

Taylor Swift agrees with me that if Donald Trump becomes president there will be a certain amount of chaos. I have argue that if we have Putin plus Trump plus Xi Jinping in power at the same time we going to have chaos. We need someone to moderate things and focus on cooperation and compromise in order to stabilise the world. And I believe that Kamala Harris is that person.

And Taylor Swift says that she is very heartened by Walz's support of LGBTQ+ rights and IVF and "a woman's right to her own body". That's a reference I believe to abortion. The right to an abortion has been curtailed as I remember in certain states thanks to Trump's time as president.

Taylor Swift has done her research she says and she asks her followers to do theirs. She wants her followers to vote for Kamala Harris.

Phrase “cat lady” reached an all-time high on Google thanks to Vance

JD Vance was and probably is still in trouble with presidential candidate Donald Trump because he made an enormous faux pas and criticising independent women living with cats by insulting them as "a bunch of childless cat ladies who are miserable at their own lives and the choices they've made". Plainly misogynistic. He is now backpedalling as is Donald Trump by saying that he is just concerned about Americans not creating families because the country needs families and a family way of life.

Phrase “cat lady” reached an all-time high on Google thanks to Vance
'Cat lady' interest surged. This is a Google Trends chart. Click on the image to see is much larger (desktop).

And Donald Trump supported his running mate by saying the same thing namely that JD Vance is a family man and thinks that the family way of life is very important to America. This is to be expected from a declared Christian which is what JD Vance is but I've argued that he doesn't behave like a good Christian.

That's the introduction but the interesting aspect of this is that Google tells us that there was a massive surge in people searching for articles about "cat lady". The search term "cat lady" became incredibly popular and I have embedded on this page Google's trends graph which shows you that in America it climbed steadily and then peeked out on July 26, 2024. Unsurprising perhaps but nice to see it confirmed.

Cat ladies have never been more in the news thanks to the misogynistic, potential future vice president. But they've always been in the news one way or another and they always been denigrated. This means that JD Vance was repeating the same stereotypical image of independent-minded women living with cats without a husband. It was so stereotypical it was a cliché. It was tiresome. It was thoughtless. It was mindless and as mentioned misogynistic.

If you asked childless cat ladies living in America if they were miserable or not the vast majority would probably say that they are not. Some are probably happier than women living with a husband and family pets. They might not be but independent childless ladies living with cats are just as likely to be content as anybody else.

Living alone with domestic cats, with friends in a social circle, is a very nice way to live. People do need to network in my opinion, to have human friends as well as feline friends but when you go return to your home having engaged in a bit of socialisation with your friends, it is nice to be alone with your cats, reading a book or watching television or sitting in the backyard soaking up the setting sun.

It is nice to enjoy a bit of solitude. A lot of people like living alone, with themselves. Although the human is essentially a social creature, we are not wedded to that cultural and inherited characteristic.

Also, J.D. Vance's remarks are very hurtful for people who can't have children. And there are many women and men who find it difficult to live with a partner. Maybe they want to live with a human partner. They would prefer if they could but their personality and character prevents it for one reason or another. Perhaps they have tried living with a person of either gender and has not worked out so they decided to live alone and fill that void with a companion animal. That's okay and their lifestyle should be respected.

Vance should not be unkind towards these people. They are doing their best. And they find a lot of solace and enjoyment in living with a domestic cat or cats. We should be sensitive towards them not insensitive and thoughtless as is the case with J.D. Vance.

Halle Berry is a certified cat lady! Catwoman changed her.

The Internet is pleased to announce that Halle Berry is a "certified cat lady". And she became a certified cat lady because of the film Catwoman (2004) saying that the "experience changed me". She added that she "became a cat lover because of it" and she has been described in the past as a "self-proclaimed, lifelong dog person". I think we can describe her as an animal person actually which I love. The more celebrities who are animal people the better animal welfare will be.

And a beautiful aspect of Halle Barry's love of animals is that she rescues cats. She added that she had "just rescued four kitties I found in my yard three weeks ago".

-----------------
"I am a cat woman through and through, because of that experience and those relationships. That experience changed me."
She has an Instagram account and last month she shared a post on that social media platform showing us that she had adopted kittens from a family of stray cats that she discovered in her yard.

She introduced us to a couple of cats named Boots and Coco. She said that: "I found these two little fur babies in my yard along with their two siblings and their mom".

She ensured that the mother was spayed so that she could no longer procreate and create more homeless kittens and released her back into her yard where she is now an outdoor cat. She found forever homes for two of the babies and the remaining two "are our new lovies". She now has a "full house". Meaning of animals and I presume cats.

Halle Berry did exactly the right thing. She is a good woman beyond the world of cat rescue and animals in general. There is on doubt in my mind.

When she prepared for her role as Catwoman she was given a cat early on during the production as she didn't have one. His name was 'Playdough'. She said that she didn't have the responsibility of children and had plenty of time "to focus on this".

During the filming, apparently, she said that she was a "full-on cat, all the time. I'd crawl around my house, trying to jump on my counters, thinking 'If I were a cat, how what I get up there? I was in a 24/7.'"

Catwoman

Halle Berry played Patience Phillips, who becomes Catwoman, in the 2004 film "Catwoman." The movie itself wasn't a commercial success (I believe), but it did mark a milestone for superhero films as one of the first to be led by a woman of colour.

Here's a quick rundown:Movie Title: Catwoman
  • Year Released: 2004
  • Halle Berry's Character: Patience Phillips / Catwoman
  • Genre: Superhero (loosely based on DC Comics character)
  • Reception: Negative reviews, but notable for casting

While the film didn't win over critics, Halle Berry's performance was recognized with a few award nominations, including a BET Award for Best Actress.
