Refined, thoughtful King Charles versus clumsy thoughtless 'King' Trump!

At the end of the recent visit by King Charles III to the White House, President Trump told reporters that the USA needed more people like Charles as US citizens. Trump loves Charles's accent and his intelligent refinement. Charles was Oxbridge educated (Trinity College, Cambridge 1967-70 - see below) . He is not super-intelligent. Not at all. But he is industrious, very thoughtful and sensible. And sensitive to others. He has integrity (which occasionally lags as is the case for all humans).

Charles likes to gently take the piss out of Trump. He does it in a way which is entirely acceptable to Trump because it is refined. You can't criticise Trump or insult him. But Charles ribs Trump is a sophisticated way making it acceptable.

Charles's character and behaviour is in stark contrast to that of Trump who is a bull in a China shop. He is impatient, almost reckless, often thoughtless (about the consequences of his pronouncements and decisions). Trump is not stupid (he claims to be a genius - he is not). In fact he is quite smart but this is totally subjugated by his 'mad' behaviour due to character defects. He is full of character defects which control his behaviour.

The world has become used to Trump's 'madness' but that does not stop his behaviour being inherently slightly mad and frankly damaging to the world.

Trump greatly admires Charles. Charles probably puts up with Trumps hyperbole and shrugs it off as 'just Trump'. I don't think Charles admires Trump. He makes it work and tolerates but I don't feel that there's much if anything in the way of admiration for this slightly crazy president.

Charles has to exercise a degree of self control when in the presence of Trump and I am sure that sometimes Charles is waiting for the next Trump gaff and embarrassment.

The two are starkly different. They get on primarily by dint of Charles's intelligent ability to get on. To tolerate. He adjusts. Trump does not. He can't (except perhaps with some small adjustments forced on him by Melania!). He is a bull in a China shop as stated. It is down to Charles to make the relationship work, I feel, because Charles is able to do that while Trump isn't.

Charles's university education

What he studied:

  • 1967–1969: Began at Trinity College, Cambridge, reading Archaeology & Anthropology.

  • Later switched to: History, which he completed as the main subject of his degree.

  • Degree outcome: Graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in 1970, later promoted to an MA as per Cambridge tradition.

  • Additional study: Spent a term at the University College of Wales, Aberystwyth, studying Welsh language and Welsh history as part of his course

Charles is very good at history and referred to the historical connection between the US and the UK a lot in his two speeches when visiting. They were very interesting references enjoyed by Congress who applauded often. Even standing ovations!
