Are cats better than dogs?

A ridiculous question. Sorry if that sounds rude. It depends on who is doing the judging. Some people prefer dogs. Some prefer cats and some like both equally. There is a range of people in between.

The question should be, "do people prefer cats or dogs?" There are more cats than dogs in the western world (developed world) and more dogs than cats in the less developed countries. This is because the dog is considered more useful as a working animal.

In absolute terms you can never say one species of animal is better than another. They all have different skills and senses and styles of living. You can't measure these in absolute or fundamental terms of better or worse.
